Awara Day 1: Bagdogra to Yuksom

Awara travelers, today is going to be the first day of this trek. You will be escorted from the Bagdogra railway station or airport to Yuksom in a taxi. The permits will be done today for the trek and the rest of the day is at leisure. Let’s get to know each traveler at the dinner tonight with the local wine of Sikkim. Welcome aboard AWARAS!!

Awara Day 2: Yuksom to Tsokha (3000 Meters/ 9840 Feet)

Today in the trek we pass through the dense forest of rhododendron and magnolia to reach at Tsokha. The Dzongri trek begins from the Yuksom market and we follow the River Ratong Chu's right bank. Tsokha has some amazing views to offer for sunrise and sunsets.

Awara Day 3: Tsokha to Dzongri (4030 meters/ 13218 feet)

We pass through the Tsokha village admiring the traditional lifestyle of locals and culture. The routes are going to be precipitous for the next 3 hours, so be ready! On reaching Dzongri, we learn to pitch our camps.

Awara Day 4: Dzongri

We today spend the whole day at Dzongri admiring the beautiful milky white snow mountains and acclimatizing. You will be left in awe of the abstract scenery of the green valley, blue sky and golden rays of the sun, one of the beautiful sunsets and sunrise. You get the magnificent panoramic view of peaks: Kabru (7353 meters), Pandim (6691 meters), Kanchenjunga (8534 meters), Koktang (6147 meters), Narsingh (5825 meters), and Ratong (6678 meters), and towards the western side, you can see the wonderful Singalila Ridge. The singalila ridge is a border of Sikkim and Nepal. The day is at leisure to take a walk around the magnificent cliff and admiring the beauty.

Awara Day 5: Tsokha to Yuksom

Today is the farewell night with all fellow awara travelers. We all bid goodbye to each other with a promise to meet and travel again.

Awara Day 6: Yuksom to NJP/Bagdogra

Dzongri Trek trip will end today and after having early morning breakfast, we drive to NJP or Bagdogra to connect to the railway or airport.

Things to keep in mind:

Money: Be sure to carry enough cash. Yuksom is a remote area and the ATMs are highly unreliable.
Clothing: Take good-quality trekking boots, sleeping bags, raincoat, and heavy woolen clothing. 
Ecological concerns: Polythene bags are banned in Sikkim. Cooperate with the authorities and dispose of all wastes in a proper place.
Permits: Everyone must register at the police station at Yuksom with a valid proof of identity. For foreigners, Separate trekking permits are mandatory.
First-Aids: Diamox Tablets for altitude sickness, Bandages, Tylenol in case of headaches
Anyone ID proof/ passport (For Non-Indians)
Headlight/ Torch
Sunglasses: The sun is extremely strong sometimes
Accommodation: A single room or camp will be shared by 2 people each.

How to reach NJP/Bagdogra
Start your journey from New Delhi. Take the Indian Railways 12424/New Delhi-Dibrugarh Town Rajdhani Express for a 21-hour trip to New Jalpaiguri (NJP)

Who will carry the backpack?

During the trail there will be Dzo/ porter/ pony that will carry the backpacks and equipments; you only need to carry your small day bag pack while on trek.

What should be the weight of backpack?

Once confirm you bookings with us, we will provide you an illustrated list of the things you need to carry and the maximum weight of the baggage you take along, but not be more that 12 KG.

Where to meet?

For the Dzongri Trek the pickup and drop spot is the NJP Railway station or from Bagdogra Airport. Our guide will pick up you from the NJP Train station or from Bagdogra Airport and take you to the trekking location.

Will there be professionals with us during trek?

We have a team of experienced and professional guides who have acquainted with the several trekking routes and lead the trek guiding you in the spectacular trail.

What is the minimum age required to do the trek?

Dzongri trek is a moderate trek with a maximum altitude of about 13780 feet (4200 meters) the minimum age required for this trek is 10 years.

What is the minimum temperature in Dzongri?

The temperature usually depends on the time of the year you prefer for trekking. During the trek in the month of September to November and March to June the temperature can go low at 10 Degrees Celsius during the night, in the month of December to March the temperature reaches in minus.

What will happen if trek is extended because pf landslide or any other reason?

If we get into such a situation where we have to extend the trek because then in that case extra charges may apply for the food and stay at the hotel.

Can I take diamox?

Diamox is a helpful medication for the people to reduce the high altitude sickness, but it is sensible for you to consult the doctor prior taking it.

Is the trek safe for girls?

Safety is prime importance for us, and we lead our groups and do give it to the third party to manage. It's safe for even a single girl trekker to join our fixed departures.

What kind of food will be served in trek?

During the trek you will be served with nutritious and delicious vegetarian food. Our cooks are well trained and we also treat our trekkers with the local flavors of the region, Pakora, etc.

How do deal with an emergency situation?

Our trek leaders and guides are certified mountaineers who have years of experience and have knowledge of first aid in the backwoods and they always carry essential first aid medical kit with them. They assess your physical condition at each camp so as to ascertain about your fitness level and can take required action. All the additional expenditure will be borne by the trekker in case of the rescue.
